6 Jun 2010 (happy birthday Ying!) 16.43
Things were kinda rush ever since I finished my only written exam this semester. The very next day after my exam, I rewarded myself by giving my hair a new look. Back to rebonded hair plus a forehead-covering fringe. Much more neater and easier to manage now. I always like arranging something to look forward to after a dreadful event, otherwise, how am I going to survive through without having some nice anticipation?
Right after settling on my new crown, (as I mentioned in my earlier chapter), i'm on my way to Genting. Since I wasn't totally satisfied with the weather in Taipei, I thought at least this short trip to our neighbouring country will help to cool me down. And indeed, other than the cool mist (though accompanied by cigarette smell), things were rather 'happening'. Not in anyway i expected, but it was fun to think that so much can happened in such a short trip.
To the details ...
27 May 2010
10.15pm
We gathered at Golden Mile Tower. I really thought we had came to the filming set of 2012, as people squeezed up every corner of the rather old building. ok ... i know with Vesak Day falling on a Friday, this was certainly a super peak period. But, the crowd was still a frightening sight.
10.30pm
On our way to Tuas customs, we were seated in a normal 42-seater. As told, we will be changing to the Super-VIP 27 seater once we reached Malaysia. Whatever.
Past midnight
We finally fighted our way through both customs and now busy searching for our SVIP.
10 min later
7 of us looked at our 'SVIP' with unbelievable eyes. The exterior of the 'SVIP' was just like any normal school bus! And worst, a very old school bus. I frantically searched for the name of our travel agency on the bus. None. I seriously thought at least we should be getting the company's owned bus, and not just any other bus. The unhappy bunch of us boarded the bus with high reluctancy, only to find that other passengers did not obey their seat number.
Another round of verbal arguement began. And it ended when my cousin yelled "Move, everyone, MOVE!"
Everyone then moved their butts and took their allocated seats as my cousin manually counted the number of seats from the front. (thumb up, cousin!)
28 May 2010, 12.30am
Finally, Genting here we come!
1.30am
We reached Yong Peng and hopped down to have a break.
2.30am
Toilet break. I'm glad to find the toilet in quite a clean state but the next second, i gulped. The wall was decorated with fat lizards! After a few rounds of playing hide-and-seek with them, I quickly finished whatever had to be done and raced back to the bus.
3am
The bus started giving strange rhythmic noise. Great. I struggled to catch some sleep.
6am
We finally reached the bottom of Genting. The bus steadily make its rounds up the slope.
7.15am
We were 3/4 up the hills. And suddenly the bus jerked ........ a few times and it rolled back the slope.
My heart stopped, and the bus went to a halt. The engine died. The driver did his best to restart the engine. After several tries, the bus started inching up the slope again at 10km/hr. I hadn't even reached Genting theme park and I was already on some very exciting rides. *clap clap*
7.30am
A few more engine-dying and rolling back the slope, we finally reach Genting. By then, my energy was all drained up by the adventurous ride that I just longed for some decent sleep.
8am
But before that, it was time to fill up our tummies. Breakfast at First world hotel, Lobby cafe.
4pm
Back to Genting. We can't resist the temptation of a cool cuppa among the cold air in the outdoor terrace.
7pm
Dinner at Pizza Factory. Very country style pizza and nice creamy pasta.
29 May 2010, 10am
5 years ago, we had this for our breakfast. We can't gave it a miss this time either. Hou Mei Noodle.
1pm
Visit to the 'Ripley Believe it or Not' exhibition. It showcased some strange and interesting facts from all over the world, and we had some fun with Haha mirror again.
10pm
By then our High-tea food had all been digested, we checked out this Shanghai theme cafe at First World Plaza.
12pm
Some last minute shopping before we embarked on another 7-hours coach ride again.
1.30pm
Time to go back to our sunny island. Thanks to great-aunt's advice, we only booked our bus ticket back when we reached Genting, and hence able to avoid taking back the same agency. WTS promised a real SVIP experience this time, and I felt much at ease. Seriously, rolling down the slope was no joke after all.
9pm
With my back aching, we reached Singapore ...
10pm
Officially marked the end of our 'unforgetable' trip, and I'm quite sure when will be our next trip back.
Perhaps 20 years later? :P
